Description

The Adafruit ANO Rotary Navigation Encoder Breakout PCB is a handy breakout board designed for the iconic ANO rotary encoder wheel, reminiscent of the original clicking scroll wheel interface on the first iPods. This breakout PCB converts the unique and funky pin set of the ANO encoder into a straightforward, breadboard-friendly header strip, making it easier to integrate with your microcontroller projects.

Note: This product includes only the PCB; the encoder is NOT included and must be purchased separately.

The breakout requires soldering the encoder onto the PCB and offers 7 GPIO pins - 5 for buttons and 2 for the rotary encoder functionality. Additionally, there are two common pins that can be connected to ground or VCC, typically ground, to use the microcontroller's internal pull-ups. The PCB does not include pull-up or pull-down resistors, so appropriate microcontroller library or hardware support is needed to interface the pins.

  • Converts ANO rotary encoder pins to breadboard-friendly header
  • Requires 7 GPIO pins (5 buttons, 2 rotary encoder pins)
  • Two common pins for ground or VCC connection
  • No pull-up or pull-down resistors on board
  • Dimensions: 38.0mm x 35.6mm x 1.6mm
  • Weight: 3.9g

The breakout is ideal for makers and developers looking to incorporate a unique rotary navigation control in their projects.
