Description
Sniff the air digitally with the Adafruit ENS161 Gas Sensor, a fully integrated MOX gas sensor designed by ScioSense. Featuring I2C interfacing, the ENS161 handles heater control and analog reading internally for ease of use. It combines multiple metal-oxide sensing and heating elements on a single chip to provide detailed air quality signals.
This sensor is an upgrade to the ENS160 and CCS811 sensors, offering improved eCO2 and TVOC algorithms as well as a new Air Quality Index (AQI) output. The ENS161 integrates a hot-plate MOX sensor and a microcontroller for power control and I2C communication.
An Arduino and Python/CircuitPython library is available for easy integration with various platforms including Raspberry Pi and CircuitPython boards.
Humidity and temperature compensation is supported to improve accuracy using external sensors that send RH% data over I2C to the ENS161.
The sensor comes soldered on a custom PCB in the STEMMA QT form factor, compatible with SparkFun Qwiic connectors for solderless connection chains. It supports both 3.3V and 5V systems through built-in voltage regulation and level shifting.
