Description
The Adafruit INA219 FeatherWing is a precision current and voltage sensor that simplifies power-monitoring tasks. It allows you to measure both high side voltage and DC current over I2C with 1% precision, making it ideal for power-sensitive projects.
This FeatherWing uses the INA219 chip, which can measure up to ±3.2 Amps with a 0.1 ohm sense resistor and offers fine resolution through its internal 12-bit ADC. It communicates over I2C and supports changing the address to allow up to 4 FeatherWings on a single Feather controller.
Note that due to chip shortages as of October 2022, the design uses either the INA219A or INA219B variant in SOT-23 or SOIC packages. The INA219A has ±1% max current measurement error, while the INA219B has ±0.5% error, both across the full temperature range.
Key features include high side current measuring up to +26VDC, precision amplification, and compatibility with all Feather boards. Comprehensive tutorials are available for use with Arduino and CircuitPython.
