Description

The Adafruit MSA311 is a super small and low-cost triple-axis accelerometer with 14-bit resolution and selectable scaling options of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, and ±16g. It features an I2C interface at fixed address 0x62, an interrupt output, and multiple data rate options from 1 Hz to 500 Hz. The device operates with extremely low power consumption, as low as 2μA in low power mode.

Designed in the STEMMA QT form factor, the MSA311 offers easy compatibility with SparkFun Qwiic connectors, enabling solderless connections with a wide range of sensors and development boards. It includes a voltage regulator and level shifting to support both 3.3V and 5V systems like Raspberry Pi, Feather, and Arduino Uno. The package comes with 0.1" standard header pins for breadboard or perfboard use and four mounting holes for easy attachment.

  • Triple-axis sensing with 14-bit resolution
  • Selectable ±2g/±4g/±8g/±16g scaling
  • I2C interface with fixed address 0x62
  • Interrupt output and multiple data rates (1 Hz to 500 Hz)
  • Low current draw: as low as 2μA in low power mode
  • Tap, double-tap, orientation, and freefall detection
  • Compatible with STEMMA QT and Qwiic connectors for plug-and-play interfacing
  • Works with 3.3V and 5V systems
  • Includes 0.1" headers and four mounting holes

Note: The MSA311 is similar to the MSA301 but is not a drop-in replacement due to a different I2C address (0x62 instead of 0x26).
