Description

The Adafruit PCF8591 is an affordable and compact quad 8-bit analog-to-digital converter plus an 8-bit digital-to-analog converter combo that makes measuring and producing analog voltages easy. It provides four 8-bit ADC input channels that convert analog signals into digital data readable by microcontrollers such as Arduino, Metro, or Raspberry Pi.

It also features an 8-bit DAC that allows you to generate analog voltages with ease. The device supports multiple boards on the same I2C bus by using jumpers to set one of eight selectable I2C addresses, enabling up to 32 analog inputs and 8 outputs.

The breakout board mounts the PCF8591 chip on a PCB with standard 0.1" headers and STEMMA QT / Qwiic connectors for easy integration. Programming libraries and wiring examples are available for Python and Arduino platforms.

  • Four 8-bit analog input channels (ADC)
  • One 8-bit analog output channel (DAC)
  • Selectable I2C address via jumpers (up to 8 devices on one bus)
  • STEMMA QT / Qwiic compatible I2C connectors for easy plug-and-play hardware connection
  • Compact size: 25.4mm x 22.8mm x 4.6mm
  • Low weight: 2.5g
  • Supported by Adafruit Python and Arduino libraries
  • Includes updated silkscreen on PCB (as of November 29, 2023)

Note: STEMMA QT cable is not included but available separately.
