Description
The Adafruit PCM5100 I2S DAC breakout board offers high-quality stereo audio output with a signal-to-noise ratio of 100dB. It requires no MCLK or I2C configuration — simply provide I2S audio input and the chip will output clean line-level audio with ease.
This breakout board supports 16, 24, or 32-bit audio data and automatically detects the correct format. The PCM5100 chip integrates power-on reset, power-saving mode, and a charge pump for excellent audio performance without pops or clicks during sample-rate changes.
Key features include:
- Market-leading low out-of-band noise
- Selectable digital-filter latency and performance
- Supports sampling frequencies from 8kHz to 384kHz
- Compatible with I2S and left-justified PCM data formats
- Full scale output of 2.1VRMS centered on ground
- 3.3V failsafe LVCMOS digital inputs
- SNR / Dynamic Range of 100dB
- THD+N at -1dBFS: -90dB
The board outputs audio through a 3.5mm jack or breakout pads, designed to drive line-level inputs (1k ohm or greater). It cannot drive headphones directly. Operating voltage is 3 to 5V DC with 3.3V logic inputs.
What's included: one PCM5100 I2S stereo DAC breakout board and header pins for breadboard compatibility.
