Adafruit PyGamer - Open Source Gaming Handheld for CircuitPython, MakeCode Arcade, Arduino

The Adafruit PyGamer is a pocket-sized, fully Open Source handheld gaming device capable of running CircuitPython, MakeCode Arcade, or Arduino games that you create. Powered by the ATSAMD51 microcontroller at 120MHz, it features 512KB of flash memory, 192KB of RAM, and 8MB of QSPI flash storage for game assets like images, fonts, and sounds.

Its 1.8" 160x128 color TFT display comes with a dimmable backlight and fast DMA support for smooth graphics updates. The device is equipped with a dual-potentiometer analog thumbstick, four gaming buttons with square tops, and five NeoPixel LEDs for visual effects or game tracking. On the back, it has a Feather-compatible header to expand with FeatherWing accessories and three STEMMA 2.0mm PH connectors compatible with Grove sensors and Stemma QT adapters.

Additional features include a front-facing light sensor, a tri-axis accelerometer for motion detection, stereo headphone jack, and mono Class-D speaker amplifier supporting 4-8 ohm speakers. The PyGamer can be powered by a LiPoly battery or USB for charging and programming, and includes an on/off switch to conserve power.

Programming options are broad; MakeCode Arcade offers drag-and-drop game creation, CircuitPython enables advanced Python scripting with extensive sensor support, and Arduino with Adafruit Arcada library offers low-level control.
