Description
The Adafruit Sensirion SHT40 is a highly accurate temperature and humidity sensor with a true I2C interface, making it easy to connect with just two wires plus power and ground. It features a ±1.8% typical relative humidity accuracy from 25 to 75% and ±0.2 °C typical temperature accuracy from 0 to 75 °C.
This sensor is 3V or 5V compliant thanks to the onboard voltage regulator and level shifting circuitry, allowing it to work with any microcontroller or microcomputer. The breakout board includes supporting circuitry such as pullup resistors and capacitors, along with SparkFun Qwiic compatible STEMMA QT connectors for plug-and-play I2C connectivity.
Key features:
- Relative humidity accuracy: ±1.8 %RH
- Temperature accuracy: ±0.2 °C
- Operating range: 0–100 %RH, -40–125 °C
- Breakout supply voltage: 3.3 to 5V
- Average bare sensor current: 0.4 μA at 1 Hz measurement rate
- Idle bare sensor current: 80 nA
- I2C fast mode plus with CRC checksum
- Fully functional in condensing environments
- Variable power heater included
- NIST traceability and JEDEC JESD47 qualified sensor
- I2C address 0x44
This package includes one fully assembled and tested PCB breakout and a small piece of header for breadboard use (header must be soldered). Arduino and CircuitPython libraries are available for easy integration with various platforms.
The PCB was updated as of October 2022 for improved silkscreen readability. The sensor breakout may come with either black or tan STEMMA QT connectors.
Note: STEMMA QT / Qwiic JST SH 4-pin Cable is not included but available separately.
