Description
The Adafruit STEMMA Piezo Driver Amp - PAM8904 is a specialized amplifier designed to drive piezo elements with high efficiency up to 300 KHz, providing louder output and better performance for piezo buzzer applications. Unlike typical audio amplifiers, this driver incorporates a switched-cap piezo driver with bridge-tied load (BTL) output and built-in boosting circuit providing up to ~13V peak-to-peak output.
This 2mm JST-PH STEMMA form-factor breakout board is easy to integrate and ideal for projects requiring louder piezo sounds or ultrasonic sensing. Power the amp with 3 to 5VDC on the Vin and GND pins and supply a square wave signal between 20Hz and 300KHz with any duty cycle (50% recommended for best results). A dual DIP switch allows the gain setting with options off (zero gain), x1, x2, and x3 gain. Note: When powering with 5V, do not use x3 gain to avoid exceeding the driver voltage spec.
