Description
The ChronoDot V3 is an ultra-precise real-time clock (RTC) module featuring the Maxim MAX31328 temperature-compensated RTC chip. It offers ±3.5ppm accuracy from -40°C to 85°C (~1 minute per year), making it ideal for highly accurate timekeeping applications.
This version is pin- and code-compatible with the older DS3231-based ChronoDots but includes notable enhancements:
- Slimmer dimensions for better compatibility with solderless breadboards without changing pin spacing.
- Snap-in top access battery holder for easier battery replacement.
- Includes 2KB EEPROM for data storage, power outage preservation, and unique ID registration.
- Designed entirely using open-source KiCad software.
Key specifications include a power supply range of 2.3 to 5.5 V DC and very low current consumption (200uA active, 820nA timekeeping). The PCB measures 1.2 x 1.0 inches (30.5 x 25.8 mm) with 0.1 inch pin spacing and 0.9 inch header spacing.
Ideal for use in projects requiring accurate, reliable timekeeping with added data storage capabilities.
