Description
The GD25Q16 is a 2MB (16 megabit) SPI Flash memory chip in a standard 8-pin SOIC package. This chip provides a compact and reliable way to add non-volatile storage to your electronics projects. Ideal when EEPROM storage is not sufficient and micro SD cards are too large, this SPI Flash offers a perfect middle ground with an easy-to-solder form factor and wide support.
Commonly used in CircuitPython boards, it enables storing code, animations, fonts, images, configurations, audio clips, and more. It's also an excellent choice for datalogging applications.
- 2 MByte (16 Mbit) of non-volatile SPI Flash storage
- Standard SOIC-8 package, easy to solder
- Compatible with CircuitPython and Arduino SPI Flash libraries
- Standard pinout suitable for various FLASH uses including FPGAs and flash-less microcontrollers
This chip can be soldered onto the back of the Adafruit QT Py board to add flash but note it will change the board’s mount profile. It’s used with customized CircuitPython builds to detect the external flash. The Teensy 4.1 also supports external FLASH chips via pads on its underside.
