Description
Unlock the secrets of nature with code, engineering, and the Kitronik Smart Greenhouse Kit for the BBC micro:bit! This kit provides an exciting way to learn about the relationship between plants and their environment by monitoring environmental conditions and building automated systems.
The kit includes a two-part plastic greenhouse, Kitronik environmental control board, water pump, Kitronik ZIP Stick, Mini Prong soil moisture sensor, 5 crocodile clips, ZIP extension cable, and a small screwdriver. Just add a micro:bit, seeds, and water to get started.
The heart of the kit is the Kitronik environmental control board which features multiple sensor inputs, an onboard BME280 sensor for temperature, barometric pressure, and humidity, a real-time clock, piezo buzzer, 1A outputs suitable for water pumps or heaters, ZIP LED connectors, servo output, and battery or DC jack power options.
- Build automated growing systems reacting to environmental changes
- Compatible with micro:bit V1 and V2
- Detailed assembly and coding instructions included
- Onboard environmental sensors and outputs to control water pumps, fans, servos, and more
- Powered by 3xAA batteries or 5V DC via a 2.1mm jack
- Supports MakeCode editor with custom Kitronik code blocks
- Includes 7 online tutorials covering temperature visualization, auto-watering, LED control, and more
- Ideal for growing fast-sprouting plants like cress, micro-herbs, or mustard
Note: The BBC micro:bit board is not included and sold separately. This kit is not waterproof; keep the control board dry. The soil moisture sensor electrodes degrade over time due to electrolysis; see safety advice linked in documentation.
