Description

This is a fancy upgrade to standard 20x4 LCDs, featuring black characters on a full-color RGB background that allows you to change the display backlight to any color you desire including red, green, blue, pink, white, purple, yellow, teal, salmon, and chartreuse. This LCD is the most daylight-readable character LCD offered by Adafruit, combining beauty and readability at any backlight color or brightness.

The LCD is an elegant upgrade for existing projects as it remains compatible, though only the red LED will be used in older connections. It includes two additional pins for green and blue LEDs, with onboard resistors enabling 5V logic operation and a current draw of approximately 40mA per LED (20mA each). The backlight is a single RGB LED that can be dimmed easily using a resistor or PWM.

The product includes the 20x4 RGB backlight LCD, a 10K contrast potentiometer, and a strip of header pins. For detailed guidance, a step-by-step tutorial for Arduino and CircuitPython is available.
