As technology changes and adapts, so does Adafruit. This USB Type A to Type C cable will help you with the transition to USB C, even if you're still using a USB Type A hub, computer, or laptop.
USB C is the latest industry-standard connector for transmitting data and power. Like Lightning and MagSafe cables, USB C has no up or down orientation, making it easier to use. This cable works great with any computer that has a classic USB Type A (rectangular) port and allows connection to any device with the new Type C connector (rounded rectangle).
Please note this cable does not provide USB C speeds if used with a USB 2.x port, nor does it support power negotiation beyond forcing 5V power. It is compatible with devices that use 5V and up to approximately 2A.
