Enhance your Arduino project with a stunning 2.8" touchscreen display shield, designed to offer vibrant visuals and intuitive touch functionality. This display features a bright, colorful 240x320 resolution with 18-bit color (262,000 shades), delivering much more detail than typical black and white 128x64 displays. The screen is backlit by four white LEDs, ensuring excellent visibility in various lighting conditions. Plus, it comes with a built-in resistive touchscreen, allowing you to detect finger presses anywhere on the display. (A capacitive-touch version is also available.)

This shield uses the SPI port for communication with the ILI9341 chipset display and I2C for reading from the TSC2007 resistive touchscreen driver, ensuring compatibility with most 'Arduino or Mega shaped' boards that feature I2C SDA and SCL pins (after pin D13) and the SPI 2x3 port. For accessing additional pins, we recommend using a WingShield.

The latest design updates include:

  • TSC2007 Touchscreen Driver (replacing the discontinued STMPE811)
  • Selectable VddIO for both 3.3V and 5V chips (by default, it uses IOref, but you can adjust it by soldering a jumper)
  • STEMMA QT port for quick connections to I2C sensors and devices
  • Right Angle Reset Button, now easier to press

This shield is fully assembled and tested, so no soldering or wiring is required. Just plug it into a compatible Arduino or Mega board, install the libraries, and get started in less than 10 minutes.

Key features of the shield:

  • 240x320 resolution with 18-bit color (262,000 colors) – our library uses 16-bit color mode
  • High-speed SPI interface for display control, with an I2C touchscreen controller
  • 5-pin SPI connection for the display (SPI, DC, and CS), I2C and IRQ pin for the touchscreen, and an optional backlight pin
  • microSD card slot for reading images (optional, connected to digital pin #4)
  • Onboard 3.3V LDO regulator (300mA capacity), with current draw around 100mA for both display and touchscreen
  • 4 white LED backlight, which is on by default, but can be controlled through a digital pin
  • 4-wire resistive touchscreen with the TSC2007 controller for touch functionality

This display shield is ideal for any classic Arduino or Mega-shaped board, offering an easy and effective way to add a beautiful touchscreen interface to your projects.
