Description

The BME688 breakout features a super-smart Bosch BME688 environmental sensor capable of precisely measuring temperature, pressure, and humidity, with an upgraded AI-enhanced gas scanner for detecting volatile organic compounds (VOCs), volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs), carbon monoxide, and hydrogen to assess indoor or outdoor air quality.

This breakout is compatible with the Pimoroni Breakout Garden system and supports Qwiic/STEMMA QT connectors, making integration with various microcontrollers and HATs seamless. It operates on 3.3V or 5V and includes reverse polarity protection on the Breakout Garden connector.

Included in the kit are the BME688 breakout board, a 1x5 male header, and a 1x5 female right angle header designed for easy installation on Raspberry Pi GPIO headers, minimizing heat interference from the CPU.

  • Bosch BME688 4-in-1 environmental sensor with AI-enhanced gas scanning (see datasheet)
  • I2C interface with selectable address via a cuttable ADDR trace (0x76 or 0x77)
  • Qwiic/STEMMA QT connector for plug and play compatibility
  • 3.3V and 5V compatible with reverse polarity protection
  • Raspberry Pi GPIO compatible pinout (pins 1,3,5,7,9)
  • Compatible with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi Pico with available Python, C++, and MicroPython libraries
  • Includes male and female right angle headers for flexible connection options

Dimensions are approximately 19mm x 19mm x 5mm (L x W x H, including connector). The sensor requires a burn-in time of at least 20 minutes for stable readings.

Extensive software support and libraries are available, including Bosch's official sensor API and Pimoroni's updated Python library for Raspberry Pi users.
