Description
These hinged momentary step switches are evocative of the 16-step sequencer keys on TR-808 synthesizers and are also used on A/V equipment. They feature a tactile clicky feel and a built-in red LED for visual feedback when clicked or to indicate on/off status.
Each switch has four legs for mechanical stability and operates as a momentary SPDT switch. Two of the four pins act as common, connecting to one of the other two pins when pressed. Note that these switches are not breadboard or perf-board friendly and require hand-wiring or PCB integration.
The embedded LED is a 3mm red LED with a max of 20mA current and 2.1V forward voltage, without a built-in resistor. Use a ~1K resistor to protect the LED. You can also PWM dim the LED via a microcontroller or control it digitally.
