Description
These hinged momentary step switches are evocative of the 16-step sequencer keys on TR-808 synthesizers. Also sometimes used on A/V equipment, they're very tactile with a good clicky feel. The built-in red LED is great for indicating on/off status or as visual feedback when clicked.
The switch has four legs for mechanical stability. It is a momentary SPDT type with two pins acting as the common and connecting to one or the other of the remaining pins when pressed. Refer to the diagram for pin configuration.
Note these are not breadboard or perf-board friendly; hand wiring or PCB design is required.
The 3mm red LED has a 20mA max current and 2.1V forward voltage. No resistor is built-in; a 1K resistor is recommended to prevent damage. See our LED guide for resistor selection. The LED can be PWM dimmed or controlled digitally.
