Description
Add lots more outputs to a microcontroller system with chainable shift registers. These chips take a serial input (SPI) of 1 byte (8 bits) and output those digital bits onto 8 pins. You can chain them together to increase outputs, for example, three in a row provide 24 digital outputs.
This item contains three 74HC595 chips. Chips may be NXP or TI brand, both with cross-compatible pinouts. These DIP package chips easily plug into breadboards or perfboards with 0.1" spacing. Digital outputs can drive about 20mA, ideal for LEDs or power transistors controlling solenoids.
