Description
One segment? No way dude! 7-Segments for life! This is the Adafruit 4-Digit 7-Segment LED Matrix Display FeatherWing, a FeatherWing backpack that makes it really easy to add a 4-digit numeric display with decimal points and 'second colon dots' suitable for clock displays.
This version does not come with an LED matrix. Combo packs of Blue, Green, Red, White, or Yellow LED matrices are available separately and recommended for guaranteed compatibility.
7-Segment displays require many pins (14) to control all LEDs. Instead of wiring all pins, this FeatherWing uses an HT16K33 matrix driver chip that handles multiplexing, controlled via I2C. This minimizes wiring and frees up pins on your Feather. It works with any Feather and shares I2C pins with other sensors.
The kit includes a fully tested and assembled Adafruit 4-Digit 7-Segment LED Matrix Display FeatherWing and two 16-pin headers. Assembly requires soldering the matrix onto the FeatherWing, which takes about 5 minutes. Note that the Feather board and seven-segment display are not included.
Features:
- Supports 4-digit numeric display with decimal points and colon dots
- Uses HT16K33 driver chip for efficient LED multiplexing
- Controlled via I2C, compatible with any Feather board
- Includes two 16-pin headers
- Compatible with STEMMA QT connectors added in recent revision for solderless I2C connection
