Description
Add capacitive touch sensing to your microcontroller projects easily with the Adafruit CAP1188 8-Key Capacitive Touch Sensor Breakout board. This breakout features the CAP1188 chip that supports up to 8 individual touch pads. Each touch event lights up an onboard LED to assist in debugging your sensor setup.
The sensor supports both I2C and SPI interfaces, making it versatile for many microcontrollers. For I2C, you can select from 5 different addresses, allowing up to 40 capacitive touch pads on one bus. The chip handles filtering and sensitivity automatically, simplifying touch sensing implementation.
Key features include a fully assembled board, a stick of 0.1" header for breadboard compatibility, and recommended use of copper foil for touch contacts. A comprehensive Arduino library and tutorials are available to get started quickly. The breakout measures 42mm x 18mm and weighs 2.5 grams.
