Description
The Adafruit CRICKIT for micro:bit is a Creative Robotics and Interactive Construction Kit designed to make robots your friends! It is an add-on board for the BBC micro:bit, enabling easy control of motors, servos, solenoids, capacitive touch sensors, NeoPixels, and speakers. Program your robot with MakeCode or Arduino and enjoy a powerful robotics playground without soldering.
Key features include:
- 4 analog or digital servo controls with 16-bit timers
- 2 bi-directional brushed DC motor controls with 1 Amp current limit each and 8-bit PWM speed control (or one stepper motor)
- 4 high-current 500mA “Darlington” driver outputs with kick-back diode protection
- 4 capacitive touch input sensors
- 8 signal pins (digital in/out or analog inputs)
- NeoPixel driver with 5V level shifter connected to micro:bit pin #16
- Class D, 4-8 ohm speaker amplifier with 3W max audio connected to micro:bit pin #1
The CRICKIT is powered via 5V DC and is ideal for use with 5V-powered motors, servos, and solenoids. It does not support mixing voltages and is not suitable for 9V or 12V components. The board features an eFuse management chip for over-current and voltage protection to ensure safety and durability.
Please note: MicroPython is not supported at this time, only MakeCode and Arduino. A micro:bit and power supply are required but not included.
Recommended accessories:
- BBC micro:bit
- 5V 2A switching power supply - UL Listed
- 5V 4A switching power supply - UL Listed if running multiple large motors or servos
