Description

Potentiometers are perfect for changing circuits by turning a knob, but the DS1841 I2C Logarithmic Resistor from Maxim provides an adjustable resistor controlled digitally via I2C. Unlike the DS3502 I2C potentiometer with its linear response, the DS1841 features a logarithmic resistance change that better suits audio applications like volume control by matching the human ear's response.

The DS1841 offers a resistance range from 22kOhms to 3.7 kOhms and has 128 tap points. It supports temperature-based adjustment with hysteresis and includes a Lookup Table (LUT) to set wiper positions for 70 temperature increments between -39°C and 100°C, plus entries for out-of-range temperatures.

This breakout board comes with required support circuitry and STEMMA QT/Qwiic connectors for easy, solderless connection to compatible microcontrollers. It operates on both 3.3V and 5V logic levels.

Adafruit provides Arduino and CircuitPython/Python 3 libraries and example code for easy integration.
