Description
The Adafruit Feather 32u4 RFM69HCW Packet Radio is a versatile development board combining an ATmega32u4 microcontroller and a 900 MHz radio transceiver module. Known as a RadioFruit, this board is great for creating wireless networks with longer range and lower power consumption than 2.4GHz solutions such as Bluetooth or WiFi.
This board supports both 868 MHz and 915 MHz frequencies, dynamically tunable via software. It's part of the Feather family, known for being thin, lightweight, and portable.
Key features include:
- ATmega32u4 @ 8MHz with 3.3V logic and built-in USB support
- RFM69HCW packet radio module operating at 868 or 915 MHz ISM band
- Built-in 100mA LiPo battery charger with indicator LED and battery connector
- 20 GPIO pins, 7 PWM pins, and 10 analog inputs
- 500mA 3.3V regulator with USB bootloader and serial debugging support
- Packet radio power output up to +20 dBm (100mW) with AES-128 encryption
- Range approximately 350 meters depending on conditions
- Dimensions: 51mm x 23mm x 8mm; Weight: 5.5 grams
- Comes with headers for breadboarding and soldering; LiPo battery and USB cable not included
This board is ideal for wireless sensor networks, remote control, data communication, and other IoT applications where mid-range wireless connectivity is needed.
