Description
The Adafruit Proto Doubler PiCowBell is a mini solder-less proto plate designed to simplify programming and sensor connectivity for your Raspberry Pi Pico or Pico W board. It features a reset button, STEMMA QT / Qwiic connector for fast I2C, and battery support with recharging and on/off switch. Plug-and-play compatibility with Pico H or Pico WH allows use without soldering headers.
This board provides dual 2x20 slim socket headers for side-by-side slots, enabling addition of accessories without soldering. It supports LiPoly/LiIon battery charging circuitry for any 3.7V/4.2V single-cell battery via JST 2-PH connector, with 500mA default charge rate (can be reduced to 250mA). It includes a slide switch connected to the Pico Enable pin to disable the 3.3V power supply and a reset button accessible at the board end.
Alkaline/NiMH battery pack support is available by cutting a jumper to disable charging circuitry. The board includes double socket headers for direct Pico and 'Bell board connections, with extra prototyping area and a second row of sockets for easy wiring. All sockets are labeled, and four mounting holes are provided.
Additional features include a JST SH connector for I2C / Stemma QT / Qwiic connection providing 3V, GND, IO4 (SDA), and IO5 (SCL), with extra breakout holes for additional I2C connections or reassignment. The prototyping area features connected hole strips and duplicate solder-jumper pads, with white silkscreen to identify ground pads and a 3.3V power strip. Gold-plated pads facilitate soldering.
