Adafruit Qualia ESP32-S3 for TTL RGB-666 Displays

The Adafruit Qualia ESP32-S3 is a development board designed for driving TTL RGB-666 TFT displays with a 40-pin connector, commonly used in square, round, and bar-shaped TFT panels.

This board features the ESP32-S3 microcontroller, offering 16 MB of Flash and 8 MB of octal PSRAM, enabling it to buffer large high-resolution images and display graphics, animations, or video at approximately 30FPS. It uses the built-in RGB display peripheral to drive large TFT displays that exceed the capabilities of traditional SPI or 8-bit 8080 interfaces.

The Qualia ESP32-S3 is compatible with a variety of RGB-666 40-pin displays, including those with capacitive touch overlays, which connect via the ESP32-S3’s I2C port. A PCA9554 I/O expander on the shared I2C bus allows the board to support display reset, initialization, and control inputs like buttons and backlight management.

Power and programming are provided via a USB C connector, with hardware UART TX available for debugging. The board includes a constant current backlight control circuit based on the TPS61169 chip, adjustable in increments from 25mA to 200mA (default 25mA).

Note: This product is the development board only; the TFT display is not included.
