Description

The Adafruit Right Angle VEML7700 is a precision I2C ambient light sensor designed for easy integration with microcontrollers. Uniquely, this sensor senses light parallel to the PCB surface, providing accurate lux readings rather than unit-less brightness values.

Features include:

  • Measures ambient light from 0 lux to ~120,000 lux with 16-bit resolution down to 0.0036 lux/ct.
  • Right angle sensor orientation, sensing light parallel to PCB surface.
  • Software adjustable gain and integration time for flexible light sensing.
  • Breakout board with supporting circuitry and STEMMA QT / Qwiic JST SH connectors for plug-and-play connectivity.
  • Compatible with Arduino and CircuitPython libraries for straightforward programming.
  • Compact dimensions: 25.5mm x 17.7mm x 4.6mm and light weight of 1.9g.

This sensor is ideal for projects requiring high accuracy ambient light measurements and easy I2C connection without soldering. Compatibility includes Raspberry Pi and other Blinka-supported single-board computers.

Note: STEMMA QT cables are sold separately.
