Description

Never hunt around for another crystal again, with the Adafruit Si5351A clock generator breakout! This I2C-controlled chip has a precision 25MHz crystal reference, internal PLLs and dividers, allowing it to generate frequencies from less than 8 kHz up to over 150 MHz. It features three independent outputs that can each be set to different frequencies, with a 3Vpp signal available through a breadboard header or an optional edge-launch SMA connector for output #1.

This breakout comes in the STEMMA QT form factor, enabling easy solderless connection with compatible cables and sensors, including SparkFun Qwiic. The onboard 3.3V regulator and level shifters make this board compatible with both 3V and 5V logic and power.

Adafruit provides an excellent tutorial and library for Arduino-compatible microcontrollers and CircuitPython/Python, facilitating a quick start with the Si5351. Use the I2C interface to configure the PLLs and dividers for precise and arbitrary frequency synthesis.

  • Generates up to 3 independent frequencies from 8 kHz to 160 MHz
  • Precision 25 MHz crystal onboard
  • I2C-controlled frequency synthesis with 0 ppm error
