Description
What's better than a single LED? Lots of LEDs! The Adafruit Small 1.2" 8x8 LED Matrix with I2C Backpack is a fun way to create a small, bright display. It features an ultra-bright pure-green 1.2" 8x8 LED matrix controlled via an I2C interface, minimizing wiring complexity and conserving microcontroller pins.
This kit comes with a fully tested and assembled LED backpack, an ultra-bright pure-green 1.2" 8x8 matrix, and a 4-pin header. A bit of soldering is required to attach the matrix to the backpack, which only takes about 5 minutes.
The LED matrix backpack uses a built-in driver chip to multiplex the display with a constant-current driver for uniform brightness and offers 1/16 step display dimming, all controlled through a simple I2C interface. It features three address-selection jumpers allowing you to connect up to eight 1.2" 8x8 matrices or combinations including 7-segment displays on a single I2C bus.
