Description

Stepper motors are essential for precise, powerful motion in applications like CNC machines and 3D printers. The Adafruit STSPIN220 Stepper Motor Driver Breakout Board simplifies stepper motor control with an easy GPIO-only interface, requiring just two pins: DIRection and STEP.

By default, the board supports 1/16 microstepping, but with additional pin configurations, you can select microstepping resolutions up to 1/256. LEDs provide visual feedback for direction and stepping activity.

This board operates at motor voltages from 1.8 to 10V and logic voltages from 3V to 5V, making it compatible with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and other microcontrollers. It includes terminal screw blocks for easy motor and power connections, a potentiometer for current limiting up to 1.3A, and built-in overcurrent protection.

Features:

  • STSPIN220 microstepping driver with translator and overcurrent protection
  • Motor voltage: 1.8V to 10V
  • Logic voltage: 3V to 5V compatible with various microcontrollers
  • Terminal screw block connections for motor power and 4-wire bi-polar stepper motor (26-20AWG slots, 2.54mm spacing)
  • Simple two-pin control: DIRection and STEP
  • Configurable microstepping modes up to 1/256 microsteps
  • LED indicators for DIR and STEP signals
  • Reset and Enable lines for low power and deactivation
  • Onboard potentiometer for setting current limit (up to ~1.3A)
  • 47uF 16V electrolytic capacitor on motor power
  • Four mounting holes for secure installation

Includes an assembled and tested breakout board and a small header strip (soldering required). Motor, microcontroller, and power supply not included.
