Description
The Adafruit VCNL4200 is a powerful two-in-one sensor combining a long distance infrared proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor on a compact breakout board. It can measure proximity up to 1.5 meters (approximately 59 inches), perfect for robotics, motion detection, and other distance sensing applications. The built-in ambient light sensor measures light intensities from 0.003 to 1570 lux, providing accurate light level detection alongside distance measurement.
This sensor breakout is compatible with 3.3V and 5V logic systems and uses an I2C interface for simple two-wire connection, along with STEMMA QT / Qwiic connectors for easy plug-and-play integration without soldering. Adjustable parameters include integration times, IR LED power levels, duty cycles, multi-pulse, and sunlight immunity, allowing customization to suit various environments and applications. It also features programmable interrupts for proximity and ambient light thresholds.
