Unlock the secrets of nature with code, engineering, and the Kitronik Environmental Control Board for BBC micro:bit (V1 & V2)! This versatile board provides sensor inputs and control outputs ideal for environmental automation projects such as plant watering and greenhouse systems.
The board slots a BBC micro:bit directly into an integrated edge connector, enabling input from the onboard BME 280 environmental sensor (temperature, barometric pressure, and humidity), a Real-Time Clock (RTC), and more. It features an onboard piezo buzzer, 2 x 1A high-power outputs suitable for water pumps, heater pads, or fans, 3 status ZIP LEDs, a ZIP LED expansion connector, and a servo output. Additionally, it offers 3 breakout micro:bit pins for croc-clip connections and pads for 3V and GND.
Power the board using the onboard 3xAA battery holder or a 2.1mm DC Jack with an on/off switch and power indicator. The board provides a regulated 3V supply to power the micro:bit and a solar cell input to charge rechargeable batteries, promoting renewable energy integration.
Code the board easily with MakeCode using Kitronik's custom blocks for simple programming, or dive deeper with Blocks, JavaScript, and Python for advanced projects. The board is also available as part of the Kitronik Smart Greenhouse Kit.
