LTR-559 Light & Proximity Sensor Breakout

The LTR-559 Light & Proximity Sensor Breakout detects light over a wide dynamic range (0.01 lux to 64,000 lux) and proximity within a short range of approximately 5cm.

It features the Lite-On LTR-559ALS-01 sensor, commonly found in smartphones to detect when the phone is near the user's ear, disabling the touchscreen accordingly. This breakout is ideal for projects such as automatic or manual nightlight switches that trigger based on ambient light or hand proximity.

The breakout board has a 3.3V or 5V compatible I2C interface (address: 0x23) and includes reverse polarity protection. It is designed to be Raspberry Pi compatible with a convenient pinout for direct connection to the GPIO pins (pins 1, 3, 5, 7, 9) and is also suited for the Breakout Garden HAT for easy plug-and-play expandability.

Note: The latest batch includes a non-functional Qw/ST connector due to a wiring error, offered at a reduced price to avoid waste.

Software:
