Description
These small 1.3" diagonal monochrome OLED displays feature 128x64 white OLED pixels, offering high contrast and excellent readability without the need for a backlight.
The display is driven by the SSD1306 chip, supporting I2C or SPI communication. It requires a 3.3V power supply and 3.3V logic levels; however, the included 3.3V regulator and level shifting allow compatibility with 3V or 5V devices.
The design now includes auto-reset circuitry making the reset pin optional, and the default interface is I2C for simple two-wire connectivity plus power and ground. STEMMA QT / Qwiic connectors are added for plug-and-play ease of use with compatible cables (sold separately).
The display uses approximately 40mA from a 3.3V supply on average, with a built-in charge pump to generate OLED drive voltage.
Multiple tutorials and example codes for Arduino and CircuitPython are available for text, graphics, and shapes. The display requires buffering the entire screen which uses about 1K RAM.
Note: OLED pixels have an organic LED lifespan and may dim after ~1000 hours of use. Turn off unused pixels to prolong display life.
