Description

If you’ve been diggin’ our monochrome OLEDs but need something bigger, this display will delight you. This 2.7" diagonal OLED display has 128x64 individual white pixels, each controlled by the SSD1325 driver chip. The OLED emits its own light, requiring no backlight, reducing power consumption, and providing exceptionally high contrast for crisp readability.

The driver chip supports 8-bit or SPI communication; SPI is preferred for requiring fewer wires (4 or 5). The display operates at 3.3V power and logic levels. Included is a breadboard-friendly 74HC4050 level shifter to safely convert 3V or 5V logic signals, enabling use with 5V microcontrollers like Arduino. We also provide a 220uF capacitor to stabilize the 3.3V power supply.

Typical current consumption ranges between 50-150mA from the 3.3V supply, with an internal boost converter powering the OLED pixels. This converter may produce some audible noise, which can be mitigated with hot-glue or foam tape around the inductor.

The kit includes one assembled OLED module with bezel and four mounting holes, a 74HC4050 level shifter, a 220uF capacitor, and a stick of header for soldering (header is not pre-attached). The display may ship configured for 8-bit mode, but can be changed to SPI mode following the provided tutorial.

Getting started is easy using our comprehensive Arduino library and tutorial, which support text, bitmaps, pixels, shapes, and fast display buffering using approximately 1KB of RAM. Note this display requires a microcontroller with more than 1KB RAM to buffer the display content.

Each pixel is an organic LED and may dim after extended use (>1000 hours). It is recommended to turn off the display when not in use to prolong pixel life.
