Description

The Raspberry Pi Pico WH (Wireless with Headers) is a low-cost microcontroller board featuring the powerful RP2040 chip and integrated 2.4GHz wireless connectivity, perfect for IoT and embedded electronics projects. This board includes pre-soldered headers, a 3-pin debug connector, and an onboard Infineon CYW43439 wireless chip that supports 802.11n WiFi with WPA3 security and Soft Access Point mode for up to 4 clients.

The wireless interface connects via SPI to the RP2040 microcontroller and includes Bluetooth Low Energy hardware capability (software support coming soon). Note that some wireless interface pins share GPIO with other functions, so careful use is required.

The board offers 25 GPIO pins (3 analog inputs), runs at 3.3V logic levels, and includes a dual-core ARM Cortex M0+ RP2040 processor clocked at 133MHz with 264KB SRAM and 2MB external QSPI Flash memory. Programming is simplified via the BOOTSEL USB UF2 bootloader, compatible with MicroPython, CircuitPython, C/C++, and Arduino with Philhower's Arduino core.

Key Features:

  • RP2040 dual-core ARM Cortex-M0+ processor at 133MHz
  • 2MB QSPI Flash memory
  • Integrated 2.4GHz 802.11n WiFi with WPA3 and Soft AP support
  • Bluetooth Low Energy hardware capability (software support pending)
  • Pre-soldered 20-pin headers for breadboard compatibility
  • 3-pin debug connector
  • 25 GPIO pins including 3 analog inputs (3.3V logic)
  • Bootloader for easy drag-and-drop programming via USB
  • Broad language support: MicroPython, CircuitPython, C/C++, Arduino

The compact and robust design of the Pico WH makes it ideal for wireless IoT applications where space and cost are critical. For best WiFi performance, keep the antenna area free from metal obstructions.
